Axle pump & emergency hand pump

I am building the above 5″ model and have received two identical castings for both the emergency hand pump and the axle pump.  When I queried this with Blackgates they told me that the castings are the same for each item although it is obvious that the casting is specifically designed for the hand pump. 

If this is the case a lot of machining will be necessary to produce the axle pump.

Has anyone come up against this problem.
