Super 7 Power Cross Slide Trick!

Hi All,

Finally the time came to replace the refurbished power cross slide on my restoration job.

Read all the notes etc saying how tricky this can be and sure enough was not straight forward.

When we finally got it engaged the cross slide jammed after a few turns.

Lot of head scratching later it was because of the two piece gib strips (very loose for installation). The one nearset the front was hanging up on the apron casting.

The lightbulb moment was to completly remove the cross feed screw bracket and screw. This allows instant location of the power drive keyway, then just slide the cross slide casting on from the rear and reattach. 30 seconds top!

Also has the advantage of being able to finely adjust the gibs for very smooth sliding without the feedscrew being involved. You can get it smooth and snug along the full movement by hand!!
