      @ajw

Just found a clip on YouTube that I put on a while ago (7 years!) and thought I would share it with you guys.

This was my first attempt at a stationary engine, I bought the castings probably 35 years ago, they got put in loft till one day when I had a bit more time.

I don't know if some of you steam boys are building this model if so you might find it interesting.

A very nice piece of model engineering.

That's a nice slow smooth runner.

              Alan,

right now I am also completing a ST #4 engine from the same period of casting production. 35…40 years old and still with a cast iron crankshaft. The ST #4 drawings I have were drawn in 1953. I found the dimensions of the webs of the crankshaft to be incomplete in the drawing. The size given is 5/8 x 3/8 x ? To what size did you finish yours?

              Thanks,

              Manfred

About 1 1/8 to should do, The later drawing has the ends 5/16" from the pin and shaft ctrs but that does have a smaller 3/8" pin but still gives 1 1/8" on the later engines

                  Jason,

Many thanks for your help. I think I'm going to adopt the dimensions of the built-up crankshaft as pictured in the more recent drawing you supplied.

                  Regards,

                  Manfred

Just looked at it again, the pin is actually still 7/16", just the two ends reduced to help with spacing on the built up version

Manfred, sorry I've only just seen your post.

Not sure where I located my original drawings! but having a quick look at the engine the crank webs measure 3/8 by 3/4.

I also upped the bearing diameters to 1/2

                      Hope this helps?

                      Alan
