      question

      What's happening at Stuarts?

Just been on their web site and there is no longer any mention or price for the 10V, 10H or Double 10 castings, just the machined kits.

Surely they haven't discontinued them? sad

The company is being sold and the deal will likely be done in a few more weeks. If all goes well, Stuart will be moved back to the UK mainland and it's new owner will be the foundry that has been pouring castings for them

Given that it's the foundry that will likely be the new owner, it was explained that they are not ordering up newly poured castings in an effort to keep the sale price reasonable.

So yes they are selling off what they have but it is most probable that anything out of stock will be available again within a few months time.

That explains the mail I had from them, I had asked about availability of D10 reversing gear kits, the response was "in about six months".

Had a complete beam engine kit untouched and Stewarts had even ground the base. Came with all the extras which I purchased at our club auction wish I had held onto it now as included all the extras that cost a bomb. But SWMBO stated not another toy (well she calls them my toys) so sold it on fleabay last week..

Hi you may be interested to know that the new STUART business is up and running, i have just bought some castings for a couple of referb projects and had a chat to them on the phone. It seem their long term plan is to progresively re introduce some of the engines that were discontinued and build up the stocks of depleated castings in fact i think the SIRUS is now available again as a set of castings .So good new all round.

I am making 3 Stuart 10V at the moment all scratch built without castings from solid cast iron has been a challenge and is going well i had to get my thinking head on to fabricate the standard made a jig in the and braised it all together looks good will post photos soon. the only thing i cannot do is the S on the steam chest

i got the all the cast iron from last years MEX

Hi folks, i has Stuart 10D machined kit. I had to make more parts to get the parts to fit together, honed the cylinders and got bad experience with machined kit due sloppery fit and all surfaces was not honed, bored/turned only. Next time I buy from Stuart will be a set of casting!
