Hello peeps, as the whole imperial 32/64 type thing just confuses the bejabers out of me I have redone the drawings for the above in metric ( which was a very dull thing to do) so If tanyone would like um in jpg form send me a message and they shall be yours.

Wow that would be great the reason I stopped making the S50 and reason I swore I would never make another Stewart Model was the use of fractions took all the joy out of it. so I will message you right away

For those that are interested the link below will give you access to Tubal Cain’s very good notes and advice on building the S50, that’s assuming you haven’t already got the info.

                    Hi Rod,

I just Googled “Stuart S50 with Tubal Cain” and up popped the link.

I did this about 4-5 months ago and printed off the whole article.

I’m about halfway through the build at the moment.

                    Len.

                    Night night.

Thank you, that works. I got a link from the forum to Westbury’s Centaur instructions which I downloaded.  I wonder what else is out there? Going to http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/documents/ doesn’t provide access.

I am looking to build a Stuart kit as my next step and I had a 10V in mind. Has anyone out there converted that kit’s drawings to metric?

                            Hi Jim

If you get the “building a vertical engine” book

It has all the dimensions in both metric and imperial

Ah, once again so simple if you know! The book was on my shopping list along with the kit.

Thanks Dunc. Once I have the 10 under my belt I may well be calling on you for a set of your S50 drawings.

Evening all, new to the forum, arrived here via a search for S50 drawings after a recent ebay purchase of an incomplete S50 circa 1950's. I have downloaded and read Tubal Cain's notes from the link kindly given above by Len. Very helpful and detailed, thanks to all involved.

Although I am pretty confident with the imperial measurements and the notes cover much of the dimensions, the engine did not come with any drawings. Would it be possible for someone to message me regarding getting these, imperial or metric.

                                Many thanks again

                                  Hi Guys,

For those less computer literate and want to read more of the S50 build write up, substitute 2,3,4 etc etc for the "1" just prior to the .pdf in the link.

and so on till you have the whole thing.

                                    Hi Julian,

If you approach Stuart with your problem they will be sympathetic. I had a similar problem, contacted Stuart and they sent a copy of the drawings by post at no charge. Excellent service.

                                    Best regards

Interesting, the 10V came with 'bilingual' drawings for the imperially challenged.

I keep a calculator to hand in the workshop, so if there's a fraction I don't know in my head I just do 32/64=0.500"

Convert to metric is just 32/64*25.4=12.7mm

Is that really all that hard to do?

                                        Hi guys,

Does anyone have a set of metric Stuart S50 diagrams they can send me? Youngest son is keen to give engineering a go and I fear dealing with imperial measurements for his first serious encounter will put him off for life!

                                        Thanks,
