I’ve had one of these boilers for a while, 10 years or so, and have recently come into the possession of another. I know they’re stuart boilers, presumably from the 500 range. What I don’t know is which of the 500 range they are? There are 3 water tubes underneath the boiler barrel but no markings, other than the stuart logo on the bulkhead.

Following this, does anyone know what the max working pressure is for the boiler? I’m looking to run a stuart 10H and dynamo with the hope to get some useful power out of it; I estimate the engine will need to run at about 650rpm for as long as possible, will the boiler be capable of keeping up with the demand of the engine?

      Cheers,

      Dan

Put up the length and dia of the boiler then we may be able to say which one.

the 500 series were 60psi WP

The boiler is 2 1/2” diameter and 8” long. Hope this helps.

            Cheers,

According to my 1969 Stuart catalogue that is a 500 boiler, suggested for the S50, beam engine and steam hammer.

The 501 is the same length but 2 3/4" diameter, and that is suggested for the 10V and 10H.

I think suck it and see is the answer. It may do what you want. It will surely make enough steam as the same burner is used in both boilers, but it will need water more frequently.

Yes a 500 and as Redsetter says see how it goes but you may end up using steam at a faster rate than you can make it at least with the Stuart burner.

Hi, can someone who has the Stuart 500 boiler provide me with the dimensions of the casing and chimney please? I have a bare boiler that I would like to recommission.

                  TIA

                  Roger
