Hi all,
I'm asking for help once again. I am refurbishing a Stuart Beam engine which, for several reasons, needs a lot of components re-making. I am in the process of re -working the valve operating gear and at the present making a new eccentric. I do not have the original drawings but am working from the "Stuart Beam Engine" book by Andrew Smith. In the text of the instructions he says to "mark the centre of the eccentric 11/64" from the centre of the sheave". However the drawings show the eccentric centre to be 9/64" from sheave centre.
Does anyone know which is the correct dimension? Obviously I cannot ask Stuart (and because of their demise I have had to make the strap from flat brass and not castings). Or is this a case of mistaken instructions similar to the Firefly at present in ME i.e. the writer misreading a dimension in the drawing.
Best regards and thanks in anticipation,
Terry
