Somewhere in the late ’70s or early ’80s an Austrian company brought out a limited range of model aircraft engines which were designated AAC,
This was an Alumium liner, Chrome plated and Aluminium piston.
I actually still have one, but can;t remeber the name. It was 0.45 cu. in. volume, and flew my flying boat for many years.
If anyone really wants to know the name, I’ll dig it out.

Enya and Saito engines has AAC sleeve/piston.

Peter Ravenscroft and other folk in the forum..

In case you do not has acess to cast iron for cylinder, can use bronze for cylinder and  brass for piston and piston ring of viton O-ring..

        Hi Jens,

I have just found another article by George Aldrich where he says he was involved with the first Super Tigre ABC engine in 1966. It states it was sent to a Harry Roe by Mr Garafoli of Super Tigre in the winter of 66. He doesn’t state which engine or capacity though. I can’t find an earlier reference than this. The article is mainly about tapered bores and how to achieve them.

Jack, Would your engine be an HP 45? A while back I renovated one – an HP61 marine – the first I have had dealings with. The fits on this engine were absolutely superb and I was told that that was probably down to the fact that the manufacturers ‘Hirtenberger’ were also gun manufacturers.

HP engines are now made in the USA by Mecoa see here

        Regards – Ramon

Tapered bores? No problem. It is gettting the so and so’s reasonably parallel that gives me trouble!

I have an HP45, but that is a calculator.

          regards
          John
