I am thinking about building a 40 to 48 inch steam powered fast launch with a slipper stern. The sort of thing the gentry would have used to follow the boat race on the Thames.

Was this a common sort of boat in Victorian/Edwardian times.

I can not find anything that might show a layout.

Any leads on where to look?

I thought slipper launches were petrol or electric powered but I might be wrong. This might explain you having difficulty finding images of a steam one.

Have to say that the ones I Remember on the Thames in London were not steam powered but maybe there were other types.

Hope the following links will help.
