Until quite recently I have been able to stay logged on to this site so that returning, say the next day, I am automatically loged in. This is not happening now. I have not made any changes to my settings and would like to stay logged in.

          Hi Modeng 2000

I get fed up of having to log in every time as well.

            Hi John,
I find staying logged on a bit hit and miss, and that's not confined to this forum.
            Peter.

I stay logged in all the time … Magpie/Derek is correct … you have to accept the Cookie Statement.

(If you reject it or ignore it, you will have to log in everytime.)

                    Hi David

Are you signing on from 2 PC's … when you login on the second PC, it will log you out of the first …. Just a thought.

                      Hi There

It is more likely it gets confused as I often have to log in as other members to sort digital issues out.

                      regards david

                          Hi There

No, I can't see your passwords but I can change them if necessary.
I can see subscription numbers if you have entered them but I need to see them to sort out problems.

                          regards David.

P.S. Why, is your password a rude word?

I seem to be logged on continuously, even though I have never clicked to receive cookies since the appearance of "We use cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our site. I turn the computer off completely every night, so it's not as though I'm still logged on from months ago. All very odd.

No .. my password is not a rude word, but it is one I use on quite a few sites!!!

This may be stating the obvious but if you log in with your username and password (two boxes, top left) you have to tick the box that says 'Remember Me' which should keep you logged in until you choose to log out.

I have two browsers installed and do all the website work in Firefox and then view as a 'visitor', so to speak, in Safari. I cannot be logged in on both browsers at the same time.

                                Does this help?

Would do if I could, I'm seeing no remember me box, latest version of Firefox.

Well I'm running the latest version of Firefox and there is a little "Remember me" box to tick just under the password box on my machine.

                                        Hmmmm indeed!

Something not quite right there is there? I'm on Firefox 13.0.1 and it's there.
Also – do you not have the photo of Ben Pavior? Looks from your screenshot llke that's missing also. In fact, the window is rendering completely different from mine. Surprising really – this website is usually so good….

I see the same as John except I see a "Remember Me" tick box.

John seems to be missing the box headers as well (i.e Shopping PArtners)

Diane – I do see a photo of Ben Pavior  to the right of the Login box … I get the Model Engineer banner across the top, the login box is in the top right under the banner, then the Shopping Partners is under that..

                                          I am Win 7 64 bit and IE 9

I would imagine that, if you've ever answered "No" to the cookie question, then you wouldn't see the "remember me" box. That's what's going to set the cookie and it would be superfluous under those circumstances.

I answered "Yes" to the cookie question initially and have never been asked again. If you similarly only get one shot at it when you answer "No", perhaps that's what's causing the odd problems people report. (What happens if someone want to change her/his mind?)

                                            – logging in under another user name will cause a "forget me" and demand a re-login

                                            – logging in from another computer (even from the same IP) will cause a "forget me" and re-login

                                            – when cookies are accepted and the "remember me" is working correctly, shutting down the computer at night (or any other time) has no effect on it.

                                                    OK,

If I turn off cookies and log out my screen looks like John's screen dump ie no remember me button and the two paras of Welcome to ME above Ben's picture.

If I turn on Cookies the remember me box reappears.

When I log in the welcome to ME paragraphs vanish and Ben's picture is level with the login box.

Not staying logged in seems to have started with the cookie policy requirements. I can't find how to stay logged in, there seems not to be an option except to log on each time I visit the site.

I do not have this problem with any other sites I belong to so think it must be unique to the Model Engineer site.
