I have an old Kitty P/T 636, the machine works well apart from the starter switch which has just packed in. I live in New Zealand so the chance of finding the same switch is remote. It appears to be a no volt release, capacitor start 240 V single phase. any ideas how I might get round this as the machine is to good to scrap.

If the switch is neatly fitted into the body casting you probably won't find a like for like replacement. However you can just get a NVR switch for the same size motor HP or current consumption and put it in a box. As a TP doesn't run in reverse it makes the wiring easier but if you don't understand electrical things you will have to find a professional.

                Hi Norm

What does the switch look like?

And where in NZ are you located?

                Cheers

                Bruce

Don't think it needs to be fitted into the machine, any standard NVR switch to suit the HP should be OK..

I had a similar problem with a garden shredder last year, switch was built in, so I just by-passed it and fitted a new switch with its own mounting box. Problem solved !
