      This came into the Men’s Shed and we naturally thought it was part of a plane but google came up with something to do with helicoils and no picture of it.
      There is a 6mm bush and it looks like it would fit onto an about 15mm square rod. I guess it could put dowel holes into the edge of ply sheet. It’s about 50mm long.

        15mm square rod could be 15mm “conti board” so possibly part of a dowel jig for 70s conti board

          Yes I agree. 6mm is the standard diameter for the fluted compressed dowels you can buy for edge jointing typically with 15mm composite board. 8mm is another common size for larger sections.

          The slotted bit on the top is most probably a simple guide for locating your pencil marks indicating the position of the joint
