On another thread a link was made to this vice article giving a nice pictorial guide for noddies on how the writer improved a shoddy vice.

I'm sure I have seen a website with an equivalent on improving a 5C spin indexer but can't find it on google. I did find a bit on another forum and a site to inspire tool envy.

But the one I'm thinking of I think ended up with the indexer with a bar through it upside down to square up the base. Ring a bell withanyone?

          Have a look at:

I think that is the article you are wanting.

The ultimate post on this was done by John Moore AKA Bogstandard and posted on HMEM but due to HMEM being bought out many of the posters objected to their copywrite being taken over and removed many of the photographs.

John has started posting on another site http://www.modelenginemaker.com but a quick search didn't find his original article.

I'll ring him tomorrow and ask if it's on there.

Thanks John. It was of the quality of clear instruction that characterises Bogs' work so it probably was that one. It is a while since Isaw it so would tie in with the changes yo mentioned.

The link Dave supplied was also interesting and one I had not see so it all helps.

Spoke to John Moore and he hasn't transfered that spin indexer post over from HMEM to MEM but he said he'd start doing it.

Now see that it's here. **LINK**

Very good article, David oughtto sign John up as resident autor like LBSC and ET Westbury were.

£3 17s 6d a week and all the digestives he wants.

Joking aside very well written and illustrated article.

                  An excellent article indeed !

                  [thank you, both Johns]

                  .
                  P.S.
Does anyone know of a smaller version of these Spin Indexers?
The 5C size is too big for my requirements … but a similar design, sized for 10mm [e.g. Pultra lathe] collets, would be very handy.

Nice one John. That is the article I was thinking of. have to see what clearance I've got under my mill.
