Source of plastic rod

Looking for a supplier of hard, tough, round plastic rod. It needs to be easily machinable, take a polish and lend itself well to being engraved. Diameters? Anything from 1" up to about 3". One 300mm'ish length of each would be more than adequate.

If it was possible to obtain man made ivory then that might possibly be just the stuff I'm looking for. In fact, if it were ivory coloured so much the better. Does such a material exist other than in billiard balls (phenolic resin) ?

I think it was in home bargains or B and M bargains I have bought small rolling pins in plastic for about 1 or 2 pounds.they are about 220mm long and 30 mm diameter or 10 inches by 1 and 1/8 diameter for oldies. they have turned rounded ends and can also be used for rolling pastry.

For smaller sizes, unjwanted knitting needles (Not many seem to be much larger than 8mm )

If like me you are "careful", charity shops, and car boot sales can be inexpensive sources of supply.

One or two, having been drilled out, are attached to repurposed liquid soap pumps, to dispense soluble oil, or cutting oil, from reused 5 Litre containers.

There is a very realistic "man made ivory", when we installed a pipe organ in our Church, it was missing the ivory top of one of the stops, we got a new one made and engraved, and unless you know which stop it is you won't tell the false one. The organ was built in 1917, and had been out of use for 30 years before we got it about 20 years ago.

If you don't mind turning it round first, I think lots of people sell square Corian blanks on the Bay.
