I keep old hacksaw blades for when I need to make lock picks…. I have a lot of old blades and no lock picks.

… A whole box of video cameras! And three old, cheap, computer cases… I suspect I won’t be needing stuff like that ever again. I know if I got that organised then the thing I need would always be in the box at the bottom-back.

Those 3 old cheap computer cases have legacy interface hardware and software needed to test and maintain some equipment that is still in use. The equipment has not gone wrong so the PC’s have not been used for since it was made. The interface cards in them cost over £5000 each some years ago. Interface cards are specialist items so no re-sale value. They are no longer available due to PC architecture changes. I’ll probably never need them but the costs of re-creating this equipment on current hardware and operating systems would be hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Some industries have long product lifespans and strict certification requirements.

Yes I probably have too much “stuff” but I do use a lot of it and even sell some of it. It’s only junk until you need it.

On Nigel Graham 2 Said: found a dozen or so live revolver rounds among the mass of basically scrap! Luckily one member was a Police Inspector able to remove them for proper, discreet disposal……

When we were asked to clear the workshop of a deceased club member we found a box of bullets. I rang the local police who asked me to throw them in one of the local flashes (lakes caused by mining subsidence). The paperwork involved in doing it the official way was too much to contemplate.
