Been watching this one from a week ago and it was pretty obvious from the startup bidding that some folk had noticed the interesting details

I didn't notice it but it is interesting to see the added note that Tony of lathes.co.uk had got in touch to confirm it was a Drummond. So maybe he scans all ebay lathe posts to see what comes up.

Now you have got me curious to know whether it is a Myford or Drummond and what date. Might pop up on the Groups.io or Facebook feeds.

So is the "Tall pulley type thing" part of a re-purposed drill?

The pulley thing must have been used horizontal because the huge oil reservoirs need to be that way up. Really odd. It is conceivable that if the lathe was used on ship perhaps the pulley thing came with it, as part of a ship engineroom drive.

Flat belts and the carved black horn handles on the leadscrew handwheel and dog clutch mechanism would be Drummond pre- or very early war era. Myford seemed to go to V belts and war-issue steel handles once they took over production.
