Anyone know of a source of 6mm trapezoidal screws?

8mm is sorta rare. 10mm and above abundant. Ready to use M6 thread but would prefer Tr6x1. Trying to thread 6mm bar over 140mm isn't something I would look forward to but I might try it anyway

If you go to Aliexpress.com and search "ball screws" they have some — at $120+ each! Might be worth making your own or using regular 6mm allthread bar!

You may struggle to find a cheaper supplier than Ali-express, they are usually pretty good on price.

A cinch, especially if you look, how it can be accomplished, on u-toob. Try myford boy.

Hard to find anything under 8mm, i was looking the other day as i have a problem with the screws on my proxxon mf70 micro mill which i believe uses 6mm screws . I dont want to use expensive ball screws as i use manual feed.

Every day threaded rod sounds rather `un-precision` and usually isnt very straight.

If you're looking for screws, try Screwfix, they have most sizes including "Twinfast"

                    Regards Ian.

Perhaps if the O/P inputted the CORRECT terminology for the item they were searching, Goggle, Yaboo or Beeeg may give the required answer.

                      . . .. . . . . . and YES Michael, I've used the rite wurds.

Linking Trapezoidal and Lead screw seems to wurk.

Interesting choice of link, Ian …
• Thread milling up to 9 ¾”dia x 16 ft long and 3.5”dia x 25 ft long
                        • Thread whirled up to 6 ¼” dia x 39 ft long
I accept, of course, that the stated "up to" dimensions may encompass 6mm dia x 140mm long, but they would not have been my first choice of potential supplier for Rainbows' requirement.

Would something LIKE THIS do the job?

                          or maybe contact Kingston

Might try making it myself first so I feel less bad if I resort to buying it. Thanks for all the links though. Got them saved to contact later.

When I first saw the heading, I thought of Trapezoidal as in section of the parent metal, similar to Tri Lobular screws. Then the references to leadscrews made me think that maybe the trapezoidal referred to the thread form, similar to ACME.

Put me out of my misery; which is it?

It is the metric form of ACME which uses 30degrees rather than 29degrees.

Trapezoidal in terms of thread form, the metric equivalent of ACME. After seeing the term lead /screw/ so much I started mixing up terminology.
