Small type Reilang oil gun

I have been given a dismantled small type Reilang oil can, I am unable to assemble it so that it squirts oil. Unlike my other larger Reilang, this one has a fixed entry port. The larger type has a revolving inlet  such that it will work at almost any position, it also has a sprung loaded entry for the oil, a Non return valve. Whilst the larger has an angled die cast top, in which a spring and ball bearing forming a non return vale is enclosed, the small is just a single stem, so where does the other part of the non return part fit ? Assistance will be much appreciated.  John

I would be surprised if the spring is anything to do with the non return as the pump would then have to be good at sucking as well, gravity is usually enough for this. On the other hand it may just need priming!!!
