Anyone able to identify this Henri Hauser Machine?

The cast base is about 600mm x 400mm with a height of about 350mm

      Probably from the 1930 – 1940 period

      Thanks

Can you tell whether it’s a ‘cutter’ or a ‘grinder’ from the (actual or calculated) spindle speed?

The motor is missing so speeds would be guesswork depending on motor speed.

The spindle (top left side of first photo has a single speed pulley on it and perhaps drove off one end of the motor. The other end would have had a 5 step pulley driving the 5 step pulley (right hand side of second photo) This drives what is probably a worm gear to a shaft that runs underneath/inside the full length of the machine. At one end (right hand side of first photo is an eccentric cam driving a hinging lever (just above inserted yellow rectangle in first photo) that would move the top crosslide – which has a spring loaded return. Some sort of cam maker? The small shiny aluminium pulley visible in second photo seems to be a fluid pump.

Looking at another – same – machine in pieces, there are small metal chips in the tray so that machine has been cutting.

Anything on the lathes.co site to help you?

I have searched extensively for Hauser photos but have not been able to find a similar machine (pivot polishers start to get in the right direction – but I am sure this is not a pivot polisher)

Is there anything legible or useful on the legend plate?

Just the standard 1930 or 1940 Hauser plate and a user applied stick on label for oiling info. No Hauser machine I have seen has a model number on it.Hauser4Hauser3
