Small bandsaw needed

Thank you ndiy, not one I'd seen before.

A somewhat different looking machine. Presumably made in the ROC and rebadged. However, it still doesn't come complete with bench space, so I think I'm going to have to make my own. It's called a trolley I believe.

I got this band saw from Nebes and had it for 4 years now, one of the best investments for my shop. The wheels are cast iron with no rubber so you can lubricate freely extending the blade life. It also has variable speed and is extremely silent. I wouldn't be without it. I have also seen conversions to make it a vertical band saw with a table which I plan to make. The Femi is similar to the Nebes I believe, but not sure if it can take lubrication.

Just got myself the Scheppach MBS1100 bandsaw, curently available from Screwfix and also Tool station for the same price. My first impression, after two test cuts is very positive. Very sturdy, well made.

I did cut a 51mm mild steel bar in 50 seconds, a 25mm square bar (obviously a slightly harder steel quality) in less than 30 seconds.

The surface looks good, of course we will see how long the sawblade lasts.

The only negative point I have is a slight angle failure of probably 1 or 2 degrees, which comes from the clamp allowing angles up to 45 degrees. The zero marker is somewhat useless, so what I do is I will cut a few parts just to set up the correct zero degrees and then mark them on the machine with a scribe.

And finally: This one will get used only sporadic or for some really small jobs in the future…

This is the same machine as my Aldi one bought a couple of years ago and I agree totally

I know they had it at Aldi, but I didn't pay attention and missed it… paid probably 70 bucks more for it… Grrrr…

After much deliberating, I decided to opt for the Warco CY90. I have to say, I was impressed by the whole package considering the price. The stand went together very well and was more than rigid enough. However, after installing the bandsaw on the stand, and checking all was OK, I was surprised at what I saw after turning it on. The non-drive end of the frame was nodding up and down by around 3mm, and you could see the frame flexing.

Warco have agreed to make an exchange, and I asked them to check the replacement before despatch. The replacement one also nods, Warco have asked if I want to make the exchange as it cuts very accurately.

I suspect one of the band wheels is out of true (as someone else has experienced). Yes, I could true it up (if that's the cause), but don't think I should have to with a brand new machine, irrespective of the cost.

While it may cut very accurately, I'm concerned about the fatigue life of the cast iron frame (it's hardly going to be SG iron). So it's back to Warco with it and back to the drawing board. Looks like FEMI might be on the cards, but I hate buying Italian stuff.

How many legs on the frame? If four, is your floor perfectly level/flat? Think milking stool never rocked.

This Cutmax was linked to on another thread. I think it's a rebadged Nebes 125mm cutting capacity saw like the one in my album.

It's not the stand. Warco wouldn't have assembled the stand to test the one they have that's doing the same.

It's almost like they think it's OK for the saw to nod and the cast iron frame to flex. Astonishing!

They got kicked over plenty of times though. Still there arn't that many cows in the workshop.
