If you make a quarter scale machine that takes quarter scale coins how is that gambling?

      regards Martin

Does not matter if it has a slot or not of if it takes tokens or leegal tender. it is still a gambling machine.

There were responses while I was typing and doing other things.
The gambling act covers a wide range of activities and offences.

The "no prize" 248 says it only applies to sectons 37 and 242
37 is use of premises and 242 is making machine available for use.
There is a contradiction in 243 (manufacture supply etc) says there no offence if an exception under 248 applies which sounds like an out, but there is no exception for 243 in 248.

From their website the Gambling Commision clearly thinks you need a licence or permit as a private individual to cover section 248.
The only way to be sure is for a case to go to court.

As I said before, A single machine permit is only £40 so why take the risk? Get one and you are covered.

B.T.W I don't agree with gambling generally, Haven't been in the industry for 40 years and don't even play video games.

Way way back a local publican got me to oil and meddle with these things. Nasty horrible things to work on.

I do remember the mechanical ones had some little screw-in clamps that blocked particular wheels from settling. So the machine could be fixed not to pay out much. The general strategy was to make the machine generous on say a Thursday night and stingy on Friday etc etc. The electric machines had a rotary switch to do the same job. A lesson in life.

I remember a 'Committee' man in a WMC rushing to switch off an electric bandit that decided to vomit far in excess of the Jackpot. Caused a bit of a shindig when challenged.

hey just wondering if anyone may have some knowledge on an issue i'm having with my bandit. when the pins that drop into the rotating disks that trigger pay outs are engaged my second and third reel struggle to spin and often barely make a single rotation but when i unbolt the pin mechanism so they don't drop into the disks everything spins perfect.
