With regards to the simple mill engine ME 4460 p113 the two tables show threading tools required (Table 1) and equivalents (table 2).

      Table 1 M2 M2.5 M3 M4 M5

      Table 2 M2 M2.5 M3 M4 M6

      M5 disappears and M6 appears.

In ME4462 p227 fig 4 Front Cover is drilled and tapped M8

Which tapsa and dies are required, M5, M6 or M8

Maybe Stew single point cut the M8 thread in which case taps and dies are not needed, guess we will just have to wait for the next installment to find outwink 2

Though actually I think its a typo and the part should be threaded M6, it was on his original build but he may have updated the drawing but not the tool list. I'm sure Stew will be along in a while to confirm

I thought the magazine had employed a technical assistant to eliminate typos.

            On a less serious note

            Front and rear cover p227

"These are made from a bit of 1 3/8 inch aluminium bar that I picked up at the Manchester show"

I hope he got enough for everybody.cheeky

On my version I tapped the front cover M6 but decided things were a bit tight so changed the drawing to M8 so you will need M8 taps and dies but if you wish you can get away with M6 as i did:- some how things got missed up in the text, you will need a M6 die for the crank shaft, Sorry for the mix up chaps, any way you can't have enough taps and dies, if any one has been and bought an M8 I promis i'll have an M8 thread in my next engine so that it won't go to waste smiley Thanks for your interest Stew
