Silver soldering invar ?

Can invar be silver soldered without harming it’s low expansion properties ?

Invar can be silver soldered.

Ensure that the invar is in a fully annealed state and the joint design is such that the invar does not come under tension during heating.

Use 455 alloy with EF/HT5 Flux

If you solder Invar to a flat surface of something else that expands, you will get distortion as the job cools, and perhaps enough stress to make the joint questionable. So, OK for joining end to end, but suspect for long joints.
