Whenever I do some silver soldering, I use my stock solder which is a bundle (about an inch diameter) of 1/16 wires which I must have ‘aquired’ some time ago!
Its all I have ever used – but I dont know what it is!
      How could it be identified?

Not easy without any markings on the rods . The only thing to do without metallurgical analysis is to test the melting point against samples of silver solder of known specification . I wouldn’t actually worry about it too much – for any purpose except boiler making if the stuff melts easily and flows nicely it is probably ok .

Must have rods of known specification for boiler making though .

If it is ready to ‘flash’ round a joint almost as soon as ‘easy flo’ flux has turned watery, then it’s probabl;y easy flo 1 itself.

If you need the work to get to a good red heat probably easy flo2 or silver flo.

Thanks, thats usefull, parts have to go to a dull red heat for it to flow – so it seems like No1?

                That’s what I’d guess.

Well I’ve never heard of that? I think dull red (as in No1) will do for me!
