On another forum one of the members posted a black and white engraving of an engine he is hoping to model, while looking for something else I found a coloured engraving of the same engine and from that have found this old book that has been reproduced online.

Some interesting subjects for those looking for their next engine to make, they can all be zoomed right in on.

Who needs 3D CAD when you can draw like this

Have to agree. Old drawings seem to have an artistic value as well as usually being clear and easily read.

Quick question: Are the images supposed to open to high-res if clicked ?

… If so, there is an iPad incompatibility sad

Being married to an artist printmaker, I feel I have to point out that engravings and etchings are quite different!

They open twice to medium res, then zoomable very hi-res (as in life size) here on W10.

they call a flash reader to open page – look at the javascript to see what is being called – Apple dislikes flash and I understand removed it from many of its systems – others amongst us dislike Adobe based software as it is essentially a vector for malware

                      Tried the Mac

First it refused to do anything unless I installed the latest Flash security update. … It also reminded me that most modern websites should run O.K. without Flash.

Once updated, Safari was still reluctant to use Flash, but now lets me choose to run it on that site either 'just this once' or 'always'.

The pictures are excellent yes … let's hope the site is safe.

P.S. Shame that Apple and Adobe don't play nice anymore

As Neil has confirmed they blow up very well on a Wiondows machine, this is the engine in question and with the slider right over to the right all the dimensions and text can easily be read. Looks like the book was A3 format so they were a good size to start with.

It seems a shame that people can miss out on so much of what is on the web just because they chose not to use certain popular programs.

                          .

and I have confirmed that they blow up very well on a Mac.

I noticed a problem using the iPad and asked a civil question.

Following Neil's response, I checked on the Mac, and reported my findings [for the benefit of others who might face the same issue].

PLEASE let's not have another fight in the playground, about computers & software.
