Hi Lawrie
Sheraton made good quality machines. The first lathe I ever worked on was a small Sheraton. I was working over the school hollidays at Melbourne University In the Engineering department. Gee they even let me use it, I was still a teen.
Also my neighbour across the street has the same model to this day. A great machine.
An Engineer mate also had a toolmakers “Defiance” model much larger with a geared headstock. a great piece of machinery. Accurate and reliable.
However………
The “Sheraton Trainer series of lathes” where are they made? My guess Asia, If so it would be back to square one for me.
Placing a well regarded name on the front does not mean they are any different form the rest of the pack.
I guess it comes down to comparing features and price then asking the supplier to allow you to test it.
Cheers
John
