When I lived in Africa these guy's were at the side of the road under a tree…….order what you want in the morning and collect in the afternoon……..

I ordered a large Rhino to be carved, no English spoken but a few scruffy photo's……went back early afternoon with some drinks (soft) for the guys and watched them finish and polish the beast……..Absolutley superb, I noticed the bit of the log that was left had room for another……very tempted……

Once upon a time people did that in Birmingham.

Times have changed- Once you could just shoot one & have it shipped home

Bit of shortage now – I blame the poachers

I was lucky enough to do my apprenticeship in Africa, The nearest town was 250 miles away and it was drummed into us that we could make anything or repair anything if we applied enough thought.

Great link thanks, some years back I saw a similar bit of video but taken in India a one legged man rode into a village sat on the front porch of a wooden shack and tow 'craftsmen' made him a articulate leg out of sheet metal he then rode off using both of the bike peddles!
