If you passed yourself walking  down the road, would you recognise him/you?

I might do. The bathroom mirror helps me remember…

It is an interesting point though – really, we only know our own faces from mirrors and photographs.

Do we pheel a Philosophy Phorum in the ophing? 🙂

I look in the mirror and think why is that old git staring at me😀

So the answer to your question is probably no.

A guy I worked with used to say “If one were beside oneself, one would be two.”  And I added “or eleven”.

              Exactly my thoughts.

If you can recognise yourself in a photo, even when not looking straight at the camera, then surely the answer is yes.

These days I’d think the poor old chap was my father…

I’m not sure a photo would be valid. There are too many clues that it’s you. If the background/location/clothing/etc. were randomised, and taken without your knowledge, would you be so sure?

Probably yes.  Some years ago I was videoed giving a presentation, and when I watched it I was quite surprised how much like my idea of me I actually was.

A good number of years ago I was sent to an exhibition in London for equipment research purposes and with it being lunch time I set off down a corridor duly marked.

Coming towards me on my side was a figure in a raincoat, I moved to the side to avoid him and he copied the action. I moved the other way for it to happen again. I then realized with something of a shock I was walking towards a full length mirror and was getting close to impact!

I just hadn’t recognised myself in unfamiliar circumstances despite having much better eyesight than I have now. Shame really, it would have been nice to have someone to chat to over lunch!

                          I would!

6 foot 6, with one leg 4″ shorter than the other, really wouldn’t need the face!!!

One of the local fellas brought a dvd to the pub the other week he found in his dads old stuff, just old times from the village.

We put it on the telly and all spent some time trying to work out who one of the people in it was – then we twigged – it was me!

In our defence I was the front end of a horse in a charity show 😁
