      Hi Everybody

Does anyone have any recommendations on Dremel or dremel type sanding bands.

It seems you can buy 6 Dremel ones for the price of about 240 unbranded ones.

Are Dremel ones really 40 times as good?

The cheap ones I tried were at least 10 times worse, frayed and shredded quickly.  I’ve coughed up for the genuine article since then.

I have found that it very much depends on the material to be sanded, if you are into scratch building model airplanes then the cheap ones are adequate but not for metalwork which is where the genuine ones come into their own. I also find that speed is a good destroyer of these as the generated heat has nowhere to go as the rubber drum is not a good heatsink.
