      Hi

Another place where LEDs etc can be bought at reasonable prices is Phenoptix . I have used them for some bits a while ago and they were very good; usual disclaimers re vested interests etc.

        GU 10 UPDATE

Well I have purchased some “21 SMD LED” lamps with a GU 10 base. They are quoted as the equivalent light output of a 50W halogen lamp but actually using only 3.2W. The stated life is 12 years – we shall see! Instant on and cool – satisfactory in all respects – price makes one cough a bit but I was getting through the halogens at an alarming rate so maybe not too expensive in the long run. I’ll try these LED types for a bit before replacing all the others.
I envy all you visitors to Harrogate but, as it would be a round trip of over 600miles for me, I’m afraid I will not be seeing you there!

Norman, who was your source of supply for the LED lamps?

            These might suit:

Very white light, stable gooseneck and no heat.

Edited to add: major dia of lamp is about 35mm. You can use the supplied base or fix the gooseneck to any convenient surface.

Bought one of those with a clamp. Just to be “sure” I put it on for a breakfast. It worked three minutes. Very disappointed on chinese quality.

Maybe just bad luck – mine are still working OK. Or maybe it was your breakfast………
