I need to replace the capacitor in my small hobby bench grinder. it is a CBB61 2.5uF .

I have ordered from China on EBay but I would like to get one faster. A UK supplier has both 2uF or 4uF available ( but not 2.5uF). I wonder if anyone would know if either the 2uF or 4uF would be safe to use in this application..

      thanks

Try rs components, not the cheapest, but they are quick and you know what you get will be OK

I've used this ebay company in the past and had quick delivery; You could always contact them and ask for 1st class post, rather than 2nd class, or the £7 option.
They list a CBB61, the small flat one, as opposed to a CBB60, the larger round one.

Have you tried your local electrical wholesaler, if you have one?

                Thanks for all the suggestions

Brian, there are no electrical wholesalers open near me ( due to Covid 19 lockdown) and no general hardware stores that are open can help at all..

Adrian, RS don't list this particular capacitor and I am not competent enough to select an equivalent

Bill, your link looks good but does not post to my address. However I have found this UK Ebay seller who can post to me but only has the 2 and 4uF sizes. I am just not too sure what the effect of lower or higher values for capacitance on the motor would be. From what I have read , in general, exact values don't appear to be so important. I have ordered the Chinese capacitor but I would prefer get one faster if at all possible.

                thanks for all replying

                    Gerald,

I don't think you will do any harm to the motor by going for the 4 uF version, the values are not that precise anyway and often have a wide tolerance.

Better that direction than going too small.

                    Regards Brian

Gerald you can get a 2.5uF CBB61 on ebay **LINK** that says it is a uk supplier

FYI any 450V AC 2.5uF Polypropylene film capacitor will do.

I have an old BG6 bench grinder. I have reason to believe the run capacitor if bad.

It is a CBB60. There is no capacitor value listed. Does anyone happen to know the value of the capacitor? The grinder was made in China. I am located in the USA.

Thank you in advance for your help.
