If they can't guarantee it they should withdraw that service until they can, taking money under false pretenses

I’m not impressed with RM at the moment. An eBay order from China took just seven days to get to me with final delivery by RM. I’ve just got my Vaccination notification from the NHS and it’s taken RM eight days to deliver it.

Royal Mail have changed the guarantee from 1pm to 4pm This is from the royal mail website:

During the Coronavirus pandemic we’ve needed to make temporary changes to the guaranteed times for our Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am and 1pm services. Our current guarantees are:

              • Our guaranteed delivery for Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am the next working day is by 11.00am the next working day*
              • Our guaranteed delivery for Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm the next working day is by 4.00pm the next working day*

Therefor they failed to deliver the service which you paid for. Get back on the phone, tell them they owe you your money back and quote the website.

Just be thankful it wasn't 'another' carrier.

Standard letter to Belgium arrived within 36hrs using RM a few days ago.

I'm sure you will be recompensed quickly if you go through system.

Getting on the phone is so 20th Century, though it could end in an enjoyable rant! Might be easier to just follow the online claims process, though I see only the sender can claim a refund.

That may not be RM. There is always the possibility of multiple printing of covid jab invitations with the same date, but only actually being posted, by fractions, on subsequent days – the last being delayed, dependent on the vaccine take-up/availability?

Ours, with same addy, but different names, arrived together 6 or 7 days after the print date – but that could include at least a day for actual collection by RM, a Sunday and may only have been sent second class.

I expect the NHS website would not have got good news coverage, had it crashed with too many accessing it at one time…

Our local post office only ever quotes the highest cost for parcels. They looked offended when I pointed out that what they quoted as £9+ was actually ~£4 at the cheapest. I now but postage online, it's cheaper anyway.

I've also repeatedly been quoted the highest prices for parcels. The last time I specifically asked for the lowest price and because I was in a hurry paid and left, When I got home I thought that it seemed expensive and when I checked I'd paid almost £5 too much.

Since then I've been buying my postage online and paying 72p for the postman to collect, which is usually next day. No waiting and no 7 mile round trip.

I've been a proponent of post offices over the years and want people to keep their jobs, but deliberately quoting higher prices has left little sentiment for me. At first I though it was a mistake, but it's happens so frequently that I now think it's policy.

I am in the post office nearly everyday sending parcels for my job, The amount of times I see people being ripped off is staggering. I once saw someone pay £96 to send a small box to the USA. surprise Disgusting.

For heavier packages you are better off using courier services, they are much better value. My pick of the bunch is UPS.

On Monday (15/02/21) at about 3 in the afternoon I ordered a fairly large heavy item from Arc Eurotrade. I was promised delivery on Wednesday (17/02/21).
On Tuesday (16/02/21) I received an email from RM parcel force with a tracking reference.
Checking the tracking reference I saw the parcel had been collected from Arc Euro at 16-15 Tuesday (16/02/21)
The Postman was knocking on my door with the parcel at 09-30 Wednesday (17/02/21).
Royal Mail delivered the parcel in 171/4 hours.

I have no connection with Arc Euro or Royal Mail. But I think that was fantastic service from both parties.

I was offered next day delivery for an Axminster Tools order at an additional cost. I went for the standard three day delivery and it arrived the next day! smiley

Perhaps the Post Office where you posted is paid on a turnover basis, hence higher prices = more income.

Just had a parcel delivered by Hermes from Kilmarnock. 23 days can you beat that!
