I've been offered a Rollo Elf flat bed mini lathe, putting aside the fact that it's damn cute and re fettled and finished in gloss enamel paint would be gorgeous, i'd sit in the shed talking to it all night, can these things do any useable work turning, drilling and boring small parts?

It will need to earn it's keep as it's not cheap.

If it's the one with the Sturmey Archer 3 speed bicycle hub on the countershaft it's so cute it would be hard to resist. No idea how useful though.

A post for each of the speeds, Hopper? wink

I'd love to see a photo of this lathe, please, sounds intriguing.

                    Not that hard to find

The flat bed is a small precision ( meaning no lead screw for screw cutting) lathe without any micrometer dials as standard and only one speed.

If you want a similar, but larger lathe to do useful work and you pass south of B'ham I have a T&LM you can have for nothing, comes with 1/4hp motor + micrometer dials + a 4" / 100mm chuck mounting plate and a smaller one for a faceplate it will need to be treated to new chucks and belts.

We've sent multiple texts and messages to the number you gave but no response, if you don't now want to give this lathe away you can say so, it's not a big deal, we can then get on with looking for another one.

                        Kindly stick to the truth.

We've swapped 11 texts between myself and your courier Paul, he didn't want the first weekend, the next week I was on holiday, the week after he was on holiday. This Wednesday he again wants a date from me when he's more likely to struggle keeping to it, meanwhile you keep posting 'what about this lathe or that lathe' so I replied 'I don't think Richard wants it'. (now that looks to be your message) so do you want it or not?

I ignored your message implying I now wanted to hang out for reward.

You're right it's not a big deal, I can derive the same benefit by putting it out on the verge.
