A good friend, Ron Ayres passed away on the 29th of May aged 92. For those who have not heard of him he was an aerospace engineer and aerodynamicist who designed the shape of the worlds fasted car – Thrust SSC. He also designed two Bloodhounds, the missile and the LSR car. Quiet and unassuming you could not have a better friend than Ron.
There is even a connection to ME magazine. His father worked for Donald Aspinal who as a teenager in the 1918 advertised a small printing press in ME. This became the ADANA company. Many here will know thess small hobby printing presses. Ron’s father bought the company in 1940 and Ron ran it from the late 60’s to 1987.
Ron’s obituary is in the 31st May Times.
