does anyone identify how this rolling road is constructed?
it would appear the bar is inline and perhaps bearings inset into it?

I am building my own rolling road and like the concept as the space under the loco is not blocked with a spacer.

It's not obvious (to me) how it's done – if no-one has a clearer idea, maybe you could try ringing Station Road and asking..

Certainly looks like there could be pockets in the bar for bearings. Fine if the rolling road is only for one particular model,,,,,as has been suggested, only a call away.

Looks like chocks or partial lifters at 39-40 seconds in

Good pictures of rolling road Link The links not working it should have linked to Station Road Steam.

Looks to me that the wheels are lifted clear of the rails, about 30secs in.

Certainly looks like the rail has slots milled into their width and very thin bearings put into the slot. Otherwise, could the bearings be running on the flange of the wheels, in which case you only need to lift the loco a few thou , enough to give you clearance from the rails. The front and rear bogies could be left on the rails.
