If any one is thinking of replacing the cells in a power tool battery Screwfix are selling off 12v batteries at £5.00 each. That is a cheap way to buy the cells for your own make and type of battery.

Guess who just spent a lot of money on Ni cads a few weeks ago?

Yes and there are Li ion ones too. I notice there are chargers at the same price also.

              John and Les,

Screwfix appear to be sold out, they are only available for collection, not delivery and there are none in the branches York to Middlesbrough.

I found some Ryobi 18v Ni-Cd on ebay today at £4.99 with free delivery, look for NiCad batteries.A better buy actually with more cells available.

If you need to solder onto the cell straps, and they are stainless steel, use ordinary lead solder and phosphoric acid as the flux (Jenolite to the rest of us).

                  Gentlemen,

A further update, the 'bargain' Ryobi batteries I found on ebay are in fact a book on fixing that battery! The vendor very kindly got in touch to ask if my order was a mistake since an order for 3 books at once was unusual.

So I am getting a full refund and feeling rather foolish having told the world and all!

                  Brian

I have cut a battery open and replaced the cells with cells from this guy with good results. The tabs soldered fairly easily using an acid paste flux (Castolin)

                    Russell.

Where I work we have found AllBatteries to be very good both with stock power batteries and individual cells.

They list many power tool batteries at reasonable prices.
