Has anybody had to ream or bore out the MT2 taper in their lathe headstock?
I have a Myford ML10 that is in pretty good condition apart from the fact that at some time in it’s history someone has managed to badly score the internal taper.
I have acquired an MT2 taper reamer but hesitate to try using it – (1) because the scoring seems quite pronounced and the reamer might not be able to cope with it, and (2) because I don’t know if might be better to try boring it out (I successfully bored an MT2 taper in a lathe milling spindle some years back, so could set up to do that).
        Any suggestions gratefully considered.

I have used an MT2 taper reamer to carefully clean up a tailstock socket, holding it in the chuck and allowing they socket to ‘float’.

Think about the enormous length of cutting edge , and you can be resaonably sure it will only remove burrs or bruises and not change the taper as long as you don’t try to force it into the metal.
