Hi all. I have just subscribed to mew and am looking to see the best way to read and store the magazines for offline reading. Is Pocketmags the only way for windows 10 tablet? The app doesn't get good reviews and when I installed it I can't do anything with it unless I give it permanent access to my Microsoft account.

      Regards

      Ian

          Hello Ian,

I'm afraid we have stopped advertising our digital packages as working with windows as a couple of years ago Pocketmags stopped developing the windows app due to the incredibly low take up across all their titles.

There are readers that work with Android and various apple platforms, so we now only advertise it for iOS and Android.

Some people use the windows reader, but can't warrant that it will work.

          Sorry,

          Neil

Now that's odd. I read the digital info pages earlier and they gave info for reading on windows pointing to pocketmags but know that I read it again it says that it doesn't support windows? Is pocketmags the only reading app that it works with or has anyone got it working with anything else?

'can only write that it works OK with the following set-up:-
              Windows 10 Home ver: 1709. Build 16299.309
              Browser: Firefox Quantum 59.0.1

This latest Firefox will open the mags in its native HTML5 reader.

The problems arise if you want to store an edition (for your own private retention & use). You can "print to pdf" but for some annoying reason, the Pocket Mags prog will only allow you to do so 2 pages at a time (well on my system anyway). This restriction means a lot of irritating work compiling a multi-page article.

              (Edit: spelling)

That's because your post made me go and check the 'how to' pages for any remaining mentions of using windows that hadn't been removed.

The actual subscription pages do clearly state its for android and iOS.

Pocketmags is the only app we use.

If you follow Pocketmags advice: pocketmags.com/how-it-works/windows you can download the windows 8/10 reader from the Microsoft store (which is why you have to sign in)

We do have subscribers who use this, but we can't guarantee it will work for any particular machine.

Sorry, I need to clarify, its the W7 version of the reader that has been withdrawn.

Ian have you received your welcome email and subs number yet? I can take a little while at the weekend – or go into your spam folder.

Subs number looks to have been entered on this site, but not sure what first issue would be.
