It takes most people 5-10 years to make a model of a roller, but I have found a way to reduce this to a couple of weeks. Just choose the right roller!

This Ransomes Sims & Jefferies Automaton Roller seems to be pretty rare. There is one photo I found on the web which is a non-water ballast version, which inspired me to use red paint. The original was spotted outside the former Cape Hill Brewery cricket pavilion, sadly without a handle and rather battered (roller and pavilion). Hopefully the two will be restored to former glory as the Warwickshire second X1 are taking on the site.

Thats a bit different Neil, how did you do the lettering and is it a casting or built-up?

It's photo-etched onto 16 gauge brass – the circular part is just under 7/8" diameter.

Oh, that sort of "Roller" ! There's me thinking you'd won the Lottery. Anyway, jolly nice and unusual piece of work.
