Can anyone help me with the cylinder drawing on a Horizontal beam engine.

Some of the cross section are not to clear.It’s the port section that are not to clear

Has any one got a ISO drawing.

Are you working from the drawings by Hemmingway for the castings or scratch building from Julius De Waal Drawings?

Working from Hemingway it’s the section on cross section xx that I can’t get.

Can you scan or take a half decent photo of the part of the drawing showing teh cylinder and we'll see what we make of it.

Dave sent me the drawing,

Two Questions

1. The 5/8 x 5/16 x 7/16 recesses, to me these just remove metal to leave a tee shaped face to match the screw on portface.

2. This is the odd one there are two section XX shown. The one upper right is correct section XX but what does the other ringed section show as it does not even look like it is YY, click for larger image

I think I'd be looking for the denotation XX elsewhere on the set of drawings to find what that circled view refers to. Then you might find near that the true view YY from this sheet. Looks like something got transposed in the production process.

I may be wrong and stand to be corrected, but I think the ringed section refers to the engine Bed Plate which gives details for mounting the cylinder, or it could be a section at the flywheel position.

I was starting to think that Michael. I have made contact with someone who has built this engine and he is going to did out his drawings to check, he is the guy who has built most of the engines that the Hemmingway photos are of.

Michael has it, the elevation on the right of this image on Hemmingway's site shows the end of the bed plate and that is the same overall profile as the unknown section.

Many thank to you all. As I do each section it’s starting to make a bit more sense.

Will just check and mark out with felt tip then check each section again before I machine it
