Can anyone tell me the thread and size of the levelling screws/bolts in the myford raising blocks?

I think they are BSF thread, not too sure about the size. Will try and check in the workshop tomorrow.
Unless somebody else can give a definitive answer before then.

Tubal Cain in his book Workholding in the Lathe (WSP15) describes making his own jacking screws. I assume that these will be similar to what you want.

Just a thought: are you looking to replace an original stud?
Thread size might depend on whether you have actual Myford blocks. Possibly also depend on age of machine involved.

Some later machines use metric threads throughout so worth checking with some pitch gauges.

Mine are 25odd year old originals.

The hold down bolts (long studs) are 5/16 BSF – both ends

The hollow jacking screws are .525 dia across the threads. They are imperial fine but not enough is showing to count the threads. I was expecting 1/2 BSF. The spanner flats fit the original 5/16 whit spanner  but the threads  are nowhere near coarse enough for Whit.

I’m afraid the raising blocks don’t feature in my parts list.

Give Myfords a bell on Monday. They aren’t open Fri pm or Sat am  0115 925 4222

Thanks all, went to a local engineering company, they are 9/16 BSF
