I am a recent subscriber to the MEW digital issue service following a long term subscription / newsagent orders to both ME & MEW ( from MEW issue #48 & ME from 1978 ). After quite a few hiccups in trying to view the issues I had subscribed to, I have at last been able to view . My subscription was for one year . If I was unable to view for 4 weeks does this mean I should get my subscription extended by 4 weeks ?

I am appalled at the “userability” of  the software viewer used for this service. Also the image quality is very poor . If I want to print a drawing the print quality is very poor. If I want to read text I have to zoom in on every paragraph. I note that other subscribers , as well as myself, would have much preferred the industry standard PDF format with it’s much better “userability”.

It is sad to reflect that the amateur copies posted on Yahoo ( JREs articles ) were far better quality copies and the website much more user friendly.

To expect current subscribers to continue to subscribe year on year is stretching the bounds of creditability. I for one will not be extending my subscription. Indeed I feel that such is the quality of this service that I should get a refund.
WHY HAS THE MEW DIGITAL THREAD BEEN SUSPENDED . IS IT BECUASE OF ADVERSE COMMENTS ?

Careful, John or some might think this group is “going the way of MyMyford”

I have to agree Len.  I took out the subscription hoping to download reasonable quality scans in PDF and save them to my server just once.
Instead I found very poor quality scans, the bottom of pages cut off, moire paterns on the photos that make them less informative than they should be.
At first they were available in PDF which answered one criteria.  But then the change to that dreadfull, I mean really dreadfull “Look, its a book” software put the kybosh on it.
I understand the Editor’s concern that people may print and hand out copies of magazines to their friends, but it is no more of a threat that the photocopier is/was.
I very much enjoy my subscription to MEW and await it turning up in the mail box eagerly. I thought that subscribing to the digital editions would bring some satisfaction but it hasn’t and for that I am saddened.  I don’t regret having spent the dough, I would just like to have something of quality that I can store locally.
