Ive recently purchased a new BXA sliding gib type tooolpost for my Bantam and would like to know the purpose of a Allen socket screw in only one of the sliding gibs, even the supplier is uncertain of it's purpose.Can anyone enlighten me, please? It is into a blind threaded hole.

I've seen some that have screws in both but one in the top and one in the bottom, my thoughts are that they limit the max movement of the wedge
