After reading LBSC’s description of building “Roedean” (ME 4408) I was left puzzled by his logic on which features he included or omitted.
He has included a 1/4″ Dia. hole in the frames to replicate the slinging point of the full sized engine and an elongated hole that serves no purpose and was included as it is “merely a replica of the one on the big engine”.
Yet, he omits the smoke deflector plates, a prominent feature of the loco, on the grounds that they are not needed on the “little engine”. One could probably argue the same of the third cylinder.
