A friend sent me a metric crosslide for my Pultra 17/70 because I have trouble with my hands and the handles are bigger than my current crosslide , although I do most of my turning with a graver it's always useful to have a crosslide, and as I do most of my measurements in metric it's a pain for an old man to keep converting back and forth,( well for this old man anyway) , it had some surface rust but not to bad, I totally stripped it down degreased it, removed old paint ( wrong colour) and soaked it in Evaporust for a few hours, there was a few butchered jib adjusting grub screws so as I had to make four anyway I thought I may as well change all of them because trying to hold the grub screw still with a very small screwdriver while tightening the locknut was a pain so I purchased 10 alen socket 1/8"X 1/2" BSW grub screws and turned the end down to match the originals, I also had to repair the end of one of the leadscrews.
I went this morning to where I used to work to paint the parts that needed painting and while I was there I welded the damaged leadscrew, when I got home I turned the welded end down and drilled the hole to hold the handle on.
Although it's all adjusted and Multifix fitted I haven’t tried it yet
