I habitually ‘forward’ phishing eMails to

      report@phising.gov.uk

and this address is usually top of the list when I type the letter ‘r’

a forum member, whose eMail address starts with r has inadvertently been sent a highly dubious and embarrassing message … because for some unknown reason the layout of my address list was different on this occasion.

      Lesson learned !

        Oops!

I feel for you Michael, in my case I do such things by not looking at dates on ‘memories’ and cause all sorts of trouble at times. Daft old b*gger does it again I hear frequently.

The only people who dont make mistakes are the people who dont do anything.!!

Hi, well I can honestly say I haven’t made any mistakes, since the last one.

            I’ll get me coat.

            Regards Nick.

I wonder where “report at phising… ” would end up?

(Most of my clangers are by spelling errors… Ah – apologies to the denizens of the treacle-well and music-tree planet.)

                Well-spotted, Nigel !

the address is, of course, report@phishing.gov.uk … but now we see what happens in times of stress.

I got an annoying phishing email today, but I don’t think it was from you!

There’s a music tree in the hills above Burnley https://www.visitlancashire.com/things-to-do/singing-ringing-tree-panopticon-p66560

and the UK has plenty of treacle mines, Pudsey, Sabden, somewhere in Devon. Wikipedia claims that it’s all a joke, but what would they know

As a master at the art of typo making, often, I fail to proof read.

An intersting call was from alady offering to reclaom bak charges from a bank with which I don’t have an account. having said that, the response was a query as mto another bank with which I do not have an account.  She was most effronted when I told her fortune!

I found that reporting such things to Action Fraud was pointless, since it seems that unless a loss has actually ocurred, they are not interested. Maybe, the phishing site is more enthusiastic.

But, now, with almost every E mail, it pays to check the address of the sender, the name may be correct (Not always!) but how many of us have correspondents in de or ru, or other less well known places.

For the past two weeks, we have been pestered with a supposedly Manchester based phone call, asking for “M R A Lewis”.  We ignore, and the line goes dead as soon as the answering machine cuts in.

As ever the need for constant vigilance!

                      Howard
