The Guardian has an interesting story [available on Apple News, and presumably elsewhere] : The Federal Trade Commission is suing Amazon

Federal Trade Commission alleges Bezos firm used ‘manipulative and deceptive user-interface designs to trick consumers’

They use very confusing terms and there is often no "No" option

I've used Amazon for a few purchases and it's quite nefarious, trying to get you into their "prime" system at various points in the process

Paypal is starting to look pretty dodgy too, you're not even sure if you're clicking the right button

As disposable income drops it can only get worse so this is a well timed legal move

The EU is utterly useless for these things and their "Digital rights" are a joke, but perhaps they'll play at catchup now the US has made a move. The EU seems to prefer 100 million euro fines which go straight into their pension plan account than pursuing useful consumer laws

Amazon is also under investigation over having double the warehouse industry average rate of workplace injuries due to their atrocious working conditions. HERE

I agree with what Bernie Sanders says in that article “Amazon is one of the most valuable companies in the world, worth $1.3tn and its founder, Jeff Bezos, is one of the richest men in the world worth nearly $150bn. Amazon should be one of the safest places in America to work, not one of the most dangerous.”
