      Hi,

I've recently bought a part built Winsons/Modelworks 2" Scale Pride of Penrhyn Steam Wagon. I don't suppose any knows where I might source the drawings and construction notes?

I've tried Engineers Emporium and Steam Traction World but they are unable to throw any light on a source.

I'm sure there must be someone out there who has or knows of someone who might be kind enough to photocopy. I will obviously reimburse for any costs.

Do they steam well when complete?

      Many thanks,

      Mark

          Mark,

I realise your post is over six years old now but I do have a full set of build drawings and instructions should you still require them.

            Hi Chris,

Thank you for your message but I no longer require the drawings. Thank you anyway.

Neil – I have the drawings and assembly instructions that were supplied with the Winsons Pride of Penrhyn kit, Is it those you require?

Aaron – Apologies but I have only just seen your request dated 29/05/2021. Do you still require these?

                    Hi Chris

Could you help me out with some information

Could you look at the drawings and see what the part number is for the bracket that is the gear operating hande and I think it is the output shaft bearing its on the left hand side near the gear assembly

                    Thanks

                    Neil

Hi Neil, Julia Old did a extensive build of one of these engines, doing necessary mods to make the engine work. She is on traction talk forum. The series was published on her web site years ago, not sure if I still have it but I will look. She has gradually moved up in scale to little Samson 6 inch scale engine. So is well qualified. I think this engine is based on the Robey steam wagon. The boilers were good, commercially made, but some of the engineering needs work. This wagon was better than some of the locos, I have the tiger tank.! Made by them which is basic compared to armourtek now.

I think she stiffened the road springs as we lack of ground clearance with driver on it.

                          Regards

                          Vic

                            Hello Vic

                            Thanks for the information

Im stuck o another problem now

I need the dimensions of the gears

On e of mine has gone missing Im not sure if Ive lost it or somebody took a liking to it

Im not going to mention where it was but most of my friends are disgusted.

Ive got 3 to work of but I need dimensions so I can figure ot which one is missing then I can get a new one made

                            Thanks again

                            Neil

David Wager – Hello Steve l have not had any luck so far in my search for instructions or drawings but l believe there is a published book out there written by an engineer who stripped down and successfully rebuilt one of the Pryde of Penryn models.

If anyone knows of this publication or has one l would be very pleased to hear from them through the forum.

                                  Cheers and heres hoping.

                                  David.

                                        Chris

That's Amazing I would really appreciate a copy of the instructions and any paperwork relating to the vehicle.

Its been hard work trying to deal with issues not having any reference this would be a major help in getting my PoP up and running ready to show next year.

                                        Massive Thank you

Good morning Steve – sounds as though you and l am in a similar situation. Perhaps we can use this connection to keep in touch, as l said in my first post, buying the PoP is a big step up from the many Mamod and Wilescos that l have been collecting for my grandson Toby. We are very keen to get things moving and hopefully attend some local shows next summer.

                                          Cheers David.

POPs are built to last . Started to take my ” only just running ” version apart ( the piston blow by was as loud as the blower at 30 psi on air )  Took off the LH  tank and extracted the seized  hand pump.  It is made from a lump of brass the weighs 1.028kg !!!!!

Thanks  Chris  for the drawings  and notes.

In search of some piston seal the pistons had to come out.

Rather than take all the valve gear apart  I took off the front cylinder covers

unscrewed the grub screws from the crossheads  and using two holes drilled into the piston faces I was

able to unscrew the piston rods from the crossheads ,  As expected  the O  rings were, shall we say, not of a circular

cross section .  Now the choice is  either  just replace the O rings  or make new pistons and fit proper rings .

                                                    Brian
