Not sure where to put this question, but as it has to do with workshop tooling I pot it here!

I was trying to buy some of the afore mentioned round belts (4 and 5 mm), but Ebay was of no help, a bit to my surprise. Now I found it on RS components, but received an email stating they do sell only to registered businesses. (Btw is that so in England also? I remember having seen the name of that firm quite often here…)

So does someone know where to get this stuff without hassle? And if someone can tell the differences between the colors? I would think the softer the better the grip?

      Kind regards, HansR.

RDG do some – quite nice, has a textured surface for good grip

          Very good selection here

RS-online will deal direct, at least to UK customers.

Pyramid Belts in USA do a full range also HansRudolf, and will post small orders, just in case you can't find them to suit from suppliers in UK or Europe.

I do prefer toothed (synchronous) belts like Gates PGGT or HTD if high grip/ positive drive / high power transmission is required, just my opinion…

            Good luck JD

You might find some help by searching for "Rounthane" which is the trade name I have always known it by.

The normal reason for using it is on unguarded drives as it always used to be considered safe from an operator point of view – the theory was it would only give you a bit of a pinch without doing any real damage resulting in a bit more care being taken next time. These days, that would almost certainly result in a six figure compensation payout and the inability to ever work again…..

ebay seller merlintools sells a green belt in various diameters, at very reasonable prices.

… Quality appears to be up there with the expensive Swiss product.

                Edit: see this previous thread.

                      Kind regards, HansR.

He also has a stand at Harrogate, where I get my year's supply of belting, emery paper, wet and dry etc etc.

But can't remember the name. I do remember trying to find him by looking in the show catalogue after the show, and failing!

Anyway, HansR has got what he needs, that's the thing.

Hi, **LINK** I have no connection with them

                              That's the one Nick.

This must be a fairly new website, I was looking in the 2013 catalogue when it was bbeng.co.uk and wasn't a store like this one.

Finally, for HansR, these are available on ebayUK, but the sellers only send to UK addresses.

Quite often, eBay sellers who say 'post to UK only' will post overseas if you ask them to. That has been my experience if I'm prepared to pay the postage to Ireland.
