      Gentlemen.

Your help please. I am compiling a reference book on lathe screwcutting gearboxes to expand on the work I did with alternative gearing for screwcutting on Myford lathes a little while ago.

It will include the lathes listed but I don't have access to other than poor resolution and grainy photocopies of gearboxes fitted to these lathes . What I am looking for are good quality digital pictures of that component in a view framed by the lathe so that it can be seen in context and not just huge close up.

The image needs to be sharply focussed and well lit, slightly off centre view, in other words not full frontal and preferably without flash which tends to bleach the view and reflect back.

I would appreciate any help you can give me; either imperial; or the more unusual metric gearboxes will do nicely

Extracting pictures off the forum will degrade them so if you would email them directly to me please that would be helpful

      Thank you in anticipation

      Brian

          Hi Brian,

I think you need to include the list of lathes and perhaps a picture for comparison.

            Hello Neil,

Oops, the list will include South Bend 9 and 10 inch lathes and the Boxford equivalent 4.5 and 5 inch lathes, sorry to have overlooked that small detail!

I am still hoping someone will send me a photo of either a South Bend lathe with gearbox or the English Boxford clone with gearbox..

I have been sent a nice picture of an Australian Hercus [anothe S–B clone] which is a bonus.

              Thanking you in anticipation

              Brian

                .

I can help you with the Boxford lathes of this type as I have an STS 10.20 **LINK**

But not sure if you are after that style also.

                Regards, Nick

                    Nick,

Thank you for replying but you are right, it is a bit too modern for this work of mine

                    Paul,

I'd like to use your photo please, a hybrid machine would be quite acceptable being pretty generic

It will degrade the image downloading from the forum page, would you mind sending me the jpeg please to my email address—–wood_y at btinternet dot com all lower case and no spaces. So that I can acknowledge it in the book would you let me have your surmane as well please.

                    Thank you

                    Brian
